Managing the live-cycle of resources is time consuming and difficult. We improved things quite a bit by implementing a trash and offering automated life-cycle for learning resources. The automated life-cycle is implemented for
- end resources
- delete resources (put them into trash)
The missing element is to automatically empty the trash. When observing different client systems we see that the trash is full of garbage but no one ever deletes the trash.
It is save to assume, that the feature, that delete does only put a resource into the trash, is something that is only important in a short term view. It is great that we can un-delete if we accidentally deleted. However, no one expects being able to undelete a course that was deleted half a year ago. But all those resources, especially videos and podcasts, consume a lot of space.
The goal of this issue is:
- add a third option to the automated life-cycle management of learning resources to automatically empty the trash
- as a default value, add 180 days
