Courses are opened in dynamic tabs. It would be great if there was an option to open a tab in a new window.
Update: This should be done be using the standard open-in-new-window way behavior of browsers.
There are some unresolved usability questions on how to do this, how to deal with assessment mode etc. There are also some technical questions that needs to be checked, mainly how to activate the correct window if the course is launched again, identifying that the window has been closed etc.

Update: The framework foundation has been implemented in 15.0 to achieve this.
The goal of this issue is so allow open in new window in more places:
- Site and tabs links
- Open course link
- Menu links
- Menu items (e.g. course admin menu)
A second focus of this issue is to make sure that multi windows don't break functionality. If things get complicated we simply forbid multi windows for those scenarios.
So the strategy is: test if it breaks anything, implement some kind of lock that works with multiple windows and use this lock for critical things.
- Course element test
- Assessment mode
- Course editor
- Test editor
- Course tool such as assessment tool
- Other resource editor (blog, podcast, video)
- Other locations.
