The OpenOLAT chat features emoticons support. To support online voting, the + symbol is transformed to a thumbs-up icon and the - symbol to a thumbs-down icon. This is create for some situation, but it is almost never what the user wants the symbol appears within the text where it meant to be just a punctuation mark. In those situation the behavior is considered to be a bug.
The thumbs up should only be rendered when:
- appearing as the first symbol at the line followed by only space or nothing
- in the text, only when the symbol is surrounded by braces like this: (+)
It should NOT be rendered when used within text. Invalid examples:
- I think - am I thinking?
- The fore- and the afterword
- 10 + 5 = 15
- - this is an enumeration
