At assessment tool and IE or Edge text field gets very big (with possibly related performance issues)

When writing a comment to a user at the assessment tool using IE or Edge ( :/ ) and then getting more lines as the field can show at once, the system creates a scrollbar. When afterwords using the save button the field gets oddly big.
At once users report possibly related performance issues.
