Excel based import for MC and FIB question items

    XMLWordPrintable

    Details

      Description

In the test editor and also the question pool a new "import from Excel" is implemented. The import works in a copy & paste manner similar to the user import: the user does not upload an Excel file but copy / pastes the selected cells to a large input field where the cells are formatted as tab separated text.

The format of the input file is defined in the attached example. In this issue, only type MC and FIB are implemented.

In addition to the fields configurable in the import the following settings are predefined and can not be modified:

      General:

      • No text formatting (bold, italic, lists, tables are not supported, just plain text)
      • no import of solutions or feedback
      • no support for inline graphics
      • restrict attempts: no
      • time restriction: no
      • show hints: no
      • show solution: no
      • minimal score: 0

      For MC:

      • random answers: yes (MC)
      • vertical alignment of questions (MC)
      • method: score per answer

If possible, the pool metadata should also be supported with appropriate keywords. Those lines are optional.
